An AI sales coach is software that does a sales manager's coaching work with a rep on their live deals, preparing the next buyer conversation and debriefing the last one.
What a session looks like
The rep talks to the coach on a call, the way they would talk to a manager, and brings an open deal. Before a buyer conversation the coach asks for the evidence the team's method needs and turns the blanks into a plan. After it, the coach hears how it went (and reads the call where a recording tool is connected), names the one gap that matters, and agrees the next move. It carries the deal between sessions, so next week it starts with whether the move happened.

A good coach runs the team's own methodology, and its quality is tested against an expert standard. Ours are built with the people who wrote the method, such as Keenan with ASG for Gap Selling; the testing is described in the AI sales coaching guide. Products that only score recorded calls or only simulate a buyer are often sold under the same name.
One deal, two calls to the coach
Illustrative. Riley, an account executive, meets an operations director in two days and calls the coach to talk the deal through.
- Coach: What has the director said the missed delivery windows cost?
- Riley: Nothing specific. Just that it's painful.
- Coach: And who signs above the director's limit?
- Riley: I don't know yet.
Two blanks, so two questions for the call: what the missed delivery windows cost last quarter, and who approves spend above that limit. After the meeting Riley calls again. The director put the cost in penalty notices from two retail customers and named the CFO as the signer. The coach reads the transcript, and they agree one follow-up email. Riley's first draft opened "Great to speak today, attaching our deck." The version they agree opens "You said the penalty notices are what make this urgent. Would it help to walk your CFO through those numbers together?" The method is in how to prepare a call with an AI coach.

FAQ
What does an AI sales coach do? It helps a rep prepare a buyer conversation, reads what happened in it, and debriefs the rep on what the deal is missing and what to do next. The rep talks to it on a call and it remembers the deal for next time.
Is a roleplay tool an AI sales coach? Not on its own. AI roleplay is a simulated buyer for practice. An AI sales coach works the rep's real, open deals. Good coaches include roleplay built from the deal, but the coaching happens on the live pipeline.
Where does the human manager fit? The coach takes on the deal-by-deal coaching that managers rarely have hours for. The manager keeps career, confidence and performance conversations, and gets a read across the team's deals to decide where to spend time.
